The pet industry is huge, and is continuing to grow. It is also still, unfortunately, a largely unregulated industry. As a result, owners are bombarded with conflicting information, from often unsubstantiated sources, about what they should be doing to provide their pet with the best life possible.
We love our pets and simply want the best for them. Therefore, Echo was established to provide a pet services business with standards as high as I would expect for my own pets, based on up to date, scientifically proven, welfare focussed best practices.
Echo aims to provide a reliable, trustworthy, personalised service using all of my previous experience to ensure your pets get the best care possible that you can be confident in when you are not around.
I am fully insured and DBS checked.
I am Abbie, the founder of Echo - Pet Services.
I have been in the pet industry for over 7 years. I obtained a first-class degree with honours in BSc Applied Animal Studies from the University of Northampton where I studied animal behaviour, welfare, learning, training and cognition.
My experience includes working at a rescue centre, zoo and the largest dog charity in the UK, the Dogs Trust. In rescue I looked after dogs, cats, small furries and farm animals - restoring them back to health so they could find new homes. Working for a zoo gave me experience with more exotic animals that are often also pets, including snakes, lizards and other reptiles. As a Senior Coach for the Dogs Trust for over 2 years I ran preventative dog training classes, to ensure dogs didn't end up in the rescue centres, seeing 70 dogs over 12 training classes a week. I am therefore fully trained to their high standards by people with some of the best dog knowledge in the country.
I am very passionate about animals and their well-being. I have always done pet sitting and dog walking in addition to studying and working full time, as well as having my own dog, house rabbit and guinea pigs... plus many surrogates along the way!
(Updated March 2021)
Following the recent government announcement, remote training and video consultations will remain our preferred option while the roadmap out of lockdown unfolds. However, we plan to return to training in private gardens from the 29th March and in private houses from the 12th April, whilst maintaining social distancing guidelines. These dates may be subject to change.
All other services are able to continue as usual, with additional measures in place.
